NASA EPSCoR Research

The NASA Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) solicits research proposals through a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) addressing high-priority NASA research and technology development needs. The Mississippi NASA EPSCoR Director, with oversight from the Mississippi Research Consortium (MRC), runs a statewide pre-proposal competition to identify the most relevant and competitive proposal for submission. Awards are up to $750,000 for a three-year performance period.

NASA EPSCoR Rapid Response Research (R3)

Goals of R3 are to provide a streamlined method to address research issues ​important to NASA, and to enable NASA EPSCoR researchers to work with NASA ​to solve research issues impacting the agency’s programs/missions. This ​opportunity allows EPSCoR researchers to work alongside NASA and commercial ​partners and is intended to strengthen the bonds among EPSCoR jurisdictions, ​NASA, commercial partners, and other entities. Proposals must directly respond ​to a single Research Focus Area as defined in the solicitation. While only one ​proposal per research area is allowed, multiple proposals can be submitted from ​Mississippi. Awards are up to $125,000 for a one-year performance period.

NSF/NASA EPSCoR Research Infrastructure Improvement (RII)

NSF/NASA EPSCoR RII: EPSCoR Research Fellows @NASA provides awards to build research capacity in institutions and transform the career trajectories of investigators. The fellowship provides opportunities to establish strong collaborations through extended or periodic collaborative visits to a selected host site. EPSCoR Research Fellows: @NASA focuses on faculty from institutions with high enrollments of students from underrepresented populations in STEM. Awards are up to $300,000 for a two-year performance period.

NASA EPSCoR International Space Station (ISS) Flight Opportunity

Through this solicitation, the ISS will provide the integration and flight opportunity to fly mature NASA EPSCoR research projects in Low-Earth Orbit (LEO). There are a variety of laboratory facilities and capabilities designed to support a range of scientific disciplines on the station. A general overview of the research facilities and capabilities is available at https://www.nasa.gov/international-space-station/. Awards are up to $100,000 for a one-year performance period.
